This blog is a general repository for many of the things I have written over the years, and is suitably chaotic as a result. There are travel articles, poems, short pieces that defy categorisation, and unedited diary notes from journeys through India and Afghanistan, scrawled in a notebook while on a bus then later typed up in internet cafes, tapped out by text on a mobile phone, or written from memory at home in London. These make up the chronological element of the main blog; all the articles can be found in the Pages section.

The cover picture was taken in the Sahara Desert in 2006, near Merzouga, Morocco. That’s me on the first camel. Here’s a different view. It’s all a question of perspective. The Nomad

We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.

T. S. Eliot – Little Gidding
